NW NARCH seeks currently enrolled AI/AN college or graduate students who are focusing on the biomedical/social sciences to serve as peer and near-peer mentors for NARCH trainees. Our goal is to cultivate sustainable mentor relationships and opportunities for Native students interested in pursuing higher education in the sciences & research.
Eligibility Criteria for Peer/Near-Peer Mentors:
- Identify as American Indian or Alaska Native
- Enrolled in college or graduate school studying public health, biomedical sciences, or social sciences
- Be able to meet 1 hour a month with mentee
- Enthusiasm and willingness to share experiences and insights with peers and younger AI/AN students
- Experience as a mentor or mentee a plus
- Current or former NARCH fellow/intern/scholar welcome to apply
