Upcoming Educational Opportunities:
What: Grand Rounds – “Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) for HIV Prevention: A Highly Effective Biomedical Option”
When: Wednesday, February 23rd at 10am - 11am PT
Description: We welcome you to join Indian Country ECHO for Grand Rounds focused on Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) for HIV Prevention. PrEP is a key primary care intervention to to significantly reduce HIV acquisition among sexually active men and women and persons who inject drugs. Even in rural clinics where there may be few patients at substantial risk of HIV exposure, availability of PrEP helps prevent HIV transmission in the community. This intervention is simple to administer either as a daily oral pill or an injection every other month. This session will cover the evidence on effectiveness, monitoring, and best practices, including remote provision of PrEP care services. This one-hour Grand Rounds session includes an opportunity to engage in a didactic presentation, learn from an IHS/Tribal/Urban specific perspective on running PrEP care services in I/T/U facilities, become part of a learning community, and join an upcoming PrEP ECHO program.
Speakers: Dawn K. Smith, MD, MS, MPH; Demetre Daskalakis, MD, MPH; CAPT Heather Huentelman, PharmD, BCPS
