On Track OHSU! is part of OHSU’s Office of Science Education Opportunities, and is a health science pathway program working to increase the racial diversity of OHSU’s schools and programs and of Oregon’s biomedical workforce. We partner with school districts, educators, Tribes and community leaders to serve students starting in 6th grade. We recognize the impact of long-term and consistent student support, and are committed to engaging with students throughout their education trajectories, through college and into career.  On Track began in 2013 and is currently partnering with communities in North Portland, Woodburn, Warm Springs, and Chiloquin, focusing on Black, Latinx and Tribal students. In addition to OHSU’s Core Competencies, On Track is guided by the following values: People First, Integrity, Curiosity, Commitment, and Empowerment.


Functions/Duties of Position

The On Track Director will oversee and grow all aspects of On Track, leveraging opportunities, both internally and externally and guiding this critical work in support of program goals and OHSU’s diversity, equity and inclusion goals.  Representing the program in the community, creating an inspiring and supportive team environment, managing and developing program staff, nurturing community partnerships, maintaining and safeguarding student data, building program expansion strategy, and serving, along with all team members, as the steward of the On Track mission and values, are important aspects of this position.

Brief Summary of Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM, education, or related field
  • Demonstrated experience supporting and empowering youth of color
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working with students in grades 6 – 12 and/or post-secondary
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience collaborating with historically marginalized populations
  • At least 2 years’ experience managing a team, developing staff and building a strong team environment
  • Proven ability to maintain complex program organization working with multiple agencies.
  • Clear commitment to education and career development in the K-12 constituencies
  • Proven record of successful listening and collaboration with multiple stakeholders in pursuit of a common objective
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, access and OHSU’s goal to be an anti-racist institution
