We are excited to announce the conference will be kicked off by keynote speaker, Dr. Xavier Morales. Dr. Morales is the executive director of Praxis Project, a national organization dedicated to supporting communities building power for health. Xavier is a longtime advocate for community-driven initiatives to achieve health equity and environmental justice. Taking an expansive view of what constitutes good health and community wellness, he works in partnership to enable opportunities across the social determinants of health.
We are also excited to announce that, after some professional reflection, we are shifting the Healthy Activities Community Conference focus from weight neutral to weight inclusivity in public health policy. A weight-inclusive approach supports the health of people across the weight continuum and challenges weight stigma in public health policy and systems change. Specifically, our conference will be adding workshops, education, and networking to support public health practitioners to shift their policy work towards weight inclusivity. Click here to look over our conference topics. We invite you to send us an email if you have ideas about or interest in presenting!
