Supporting the Science of Informal Cancer Caregiving:
Highlights of NCI-Funded Research
Wednesday, February 23, 2022
1:00 PM – 2:00 PM EST
Purpose:
The Outcomes Research Branch of the National Cancer Institute (NCI) is holding a 5-part webinar series on research to support informal cancer caregivers. This second session will include three presentations from NCI-funded grantees focused on interventions to support cancer caregivers.
Background:
Over the last decade, NCI has placed a strong emphasis on advancing research on informal cancer caregiving. In 2015, NCI hosted a workshop to identify research priorities, and in response, NCI developed a funding opportunity announcement (FOA), Intervening with Cancer Caregivers to Improve Patient Health Outcomes and Optimize Health Care Utilization PAR-19-352 (R01), PAR-19-355 (R21), to support interventions for cancer caregivers. Informal cancer caregiving research continues to be a priority at NCI and in the Healthcare Delivery Research Program. NCI remains committed to supporting future research in this area.
This 5-part webinar series invites NCI-funded grantees to describe their accomplishments, challenges, and next steps in cancer caregiving research. Each session will have dedicated presentations from each of the funded grantees. This webinar series will conclude in May with an NCI-led discussion of themes among the funded grants and key opportunities for future research to support informal cancer caregiving.
Following the presentation there will be a brief question and answer session. Webinar participants may submit questions in advance of the webinar to NCIHDRP@mail.nih.gov by Friday, February 18th or during the webinar in the chat.
