Women’s Health Promotion Program

Mission

The Program is in the process of implementing the four-year plan developed by Indian health programs in Oregon. The Program provides technical assistance and health education to participating tribes. All activities are directed toward increasing the number of Indian women who are screened for breast and cervical cancer. The Women’s Health Promotion Program serves to assist tribes in meeting their screening goals.

Goals and Objectives

To increase the number of American Indian and Alaskan Native women
who are screened for breast and cervical cancer.

  • Confederated Tribes of the Warm Springs Indian Reservation of Oregon
  • Coquille Indian Tribe
  • Cow Creek Band of Umpqua Indians
  • Klamath Tribes

Funding Source and Duration

Through a noncompetitive funding process through the Oregon Health Division, Oregon tribes are implementing enhanced breast and cervical cancer programs. They work with national partners such as the American Cancer Society, the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and the YWCA’s ENCOREplus Program.
