Goal: The creation of a dietary survey for northwest tribal elders
Project Goals:
* To determine the food sources of healthy nutrients in the diets of elders who are over 50 years of age in three tribal communities
* To create a dietary survey to measure intake of healthy nutrients and foods among Native elders in tribal communities
Impact:
* Information will be provided to tribal Senior Center Directors to help plan meals at the Senior Centers
* The development of a dietary survey, which can be used by the community
* Preliminary information to develop future programs for youth on incorporating “traditional” foods into their diets
* Information on traditional foods and diet that can be used as a historical resource for the community
* Basis for future disease prevention and control efforts
