Northwest Portland Area Indian Health Board: Indian Leadership for Indian Health

HHS Resource Session & Region 10 Tribal Consultation May 28-30

May 28 2008

Dear Tribal Leader:

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is pleased to invite you to participate in the annual HHS Region 10 Tribal Consultation Session,
to be held at the Red Lion Hotel in Downtown Seattle, Washington on May 29-30, 2008 This consultation is being conducted in accordance with
Executive Order 13175 on tribal consultation, the HHS tribal consultation policy, and our desire to continue to strengthen the government-to-government
relationship between HHS and American Indian and Alaska Native tribes.

The purpose of these sessions is to coordinate a single event for tribes in each region in order to consult with many of the agencies within the
Department of Health and Human Services, to improve tribal understanding of HHS programs, and ultimately, increase access to services for
American Indian/Alaska Native people.  You can find more information about the Department’s consultation policy and
previous consultation reports on the Office of Tribal Affairs web site at http://www.hhs.gov/ofta/.
