Brookings Conference on Addressing Health Care Disparities Mar 25

March 25 2010

Objectives
This conference will bring together multiple stakeholders to advance strategies for improved data collection, integration, and utilization activities, as well as disparities measurement, to promote health care equity.  Specifically, this conference will:

Identify practical, consensus-driven, steps to measure and utilize race/ethnicity and primary language data to improve quality of care

The conference will take place over a one-day session, and will be followed by a half-day session, during which a working group will convene to produce a summary of findings and recommendations for the Quality Alliance Steering Committee (QASC) and other key organizations.  During the conference, participants will attend two plenary sessions, which will address the two main goals of the Racial/Ethnic Health Care Equity Initiative (REHEI) – a) strategies for improved data collection and reporting, and b) strategies for utilizing equity data to improve health care quality. These sessions will be separated by a series of breakout sessions that will be relevant to various stakeholders.

Conference attendees will represent a diverse range of stakeholders at the local, state, regional, and federal levels who will have an interest in advancing consensus-driven approaches to collecting, reporting and utilizing data to achieve health care equity.  Leaders from various organizations will be invited to participate, including:
