Northwest Portland Area Indian Health Board: Indian Leadership for Indian Health

Native Adolescent Health Alliance Meeting December 9

December 09 2009

The NPAIHB is pleased to announce the first gathering of its newly formed Native Adolescent Health Alliance. We envision this to be an inclusive, multi-functional group that will begin meeting quarterly in OR, WA, and ID and periodically via conference call. Attendees will meet as a whole to discuss cross-cutting planning and prevention strategies, and then break into topical committees as needed and wanted—such as tobacco, substance abuse, STD/HIV, teen pregnancy, suicide—for more detailed action planning, discussion, and resource sharing.

We hope this will prove to be a fun and productive group, and we invite you to join us!

We will host a kick-off dinner in December to share, discuss, and prioritize effective prevention strategies.
We will also discuss goals, meeting processes, and perhaps a new name(?). A brief agenda and travel logistics are attached.

Date: Wednesday, December 9, 2009
Time: 4:30pm—7pm
Location: Salem, OR
Who: All interested tribal health and prevention staff, IHS, State Health Department personnel, MSPI funding recipients, and University and Community partners from Idaho, Oregon, and Washington

The meeting will be held in conjunction with the Tribal Quarterly Prevention Meeting in Oregon and with the first biannual meeting of the Meth and Suicide Prevention Initiative.
Please contact Lisa Griggs () if you need a travel scholarship or travel assistance—we can provide travel reimbursement for 10 tribal attendees.
